2012-2013 Tree Recycling Program a HUGE Success

2012-2013 Tree Recycling Program a HUGE Success

Our 23nd Annual Christmas Tree Recycling event was once again a booming success.  During the 12 days after Christmas, we collected hundreds of trees and raised the most donations we’ve ever raised - $15,000.  Thanks to the many enthusiastic volunteers who worked in the cold, sunny weather, and to the many local businesses that partnered with us by lending us equipment and advertising time. And a huge thanks to Barnett Implement and Colonial Lawn & Garden for allowing us the use of their property to collect and chip trees.

CONGRATULATIONS to our own volunteer and Board member, Mike Burnam ...

... who received Yakima Rotary Club’s “Unsung Hero” award

An "Unsung Hero" is an individual from our community who goes above and beyond "service about self", Rotary International’s motto. Unsung Heroes demonstrate the following characteristics:

 - they are not paid for what they do
 - they have not received previous recognition for what they do
 - they are the "worker bees" as opposed to the "chiefs"
 - they would generally be defined as quiet miracle workers and
 - they are not Rotarians
